These implants consist of an outer shell of several layers of silicone rubber that is thicker than the cohesive gel silicone implants.

Form Stable implants are available in round and various “tear drop” shapes. The inside of the Form Stable implant is silicone but a much firmer consistency. Kind of like the consistency of the candy (gummy bears). Firmer and Natural!

These implants tend to be the more expensive implants and the reason is…They are the best implants available!

Silicone implants are filled with a cohesive silicone gel very much like jello. Older styles that are no longer in use were filled with a gel more similar to shampoo or honey. Currently used silicone gel implants have essentially three varying thicknesses/cohesivenesses of the gel and include the “gummy bear devices”. These variations impact the roundness of the upper part of the implant when upright, the smoothness and the firmness of the implant. 

They are available in many sizes, shapes, and levels of projection. These implants are felt to most closely match the weight and bounce of natural breasts. Most patients and surgeons believe them to feel and look the most natural. In general, the warranty on silicone implants is for life. Compare these implant features with saline implants.

Saline breast implants are filled with sterile water that is added to the implant during the surgery. They are also available in many sizes, shapes and levels of projection. Typically, patients with saline implants will feel firmer, potentially have less fullness in the upper part of the breast unless the implant is overfilled with saline, and experience more rippling. This rippling may be able to be felt with the hand or in more severe cases seen. 

Saline implants tend to put more stretch on the lower part of the breast during vigorous physical activity making them a poor choice for active women especially those with poor strength in that part of their breast tissue. The warranty on saline implants in currently for 10 years.
